What's A Type?
For over 100 years there are concert recordings, since now some forty years with the continued miniaturization of audio equipment it becomes increasingly possible to sneak into the concert hall recording equipment.
Of course it was more difficult back then to introduce a tape of most shotgun microphones it is now to introduce miniaturized microphones, no larger than a 5-cent piece, and a digital recorder the size of a cigarette pack loosely.
A type is a person who take the risk of introducing his material in a concert hall for recording "pirate" performances that will take place there, so it is a person who is a memory on any media that it is (some are also video, which is generally more difficult to manage and hide), remember that staff can stay and never be released, or who may be released into the wild for others to enjoy.
Tapers can be categorized easily as follows:
- Hearing, where the type is content to get an audio recorder and a pair of microphones (both stereo than done) to make a screenshot of what comes out the speakers and audience reactions.
- EMI, which intercepts the return type ear for recording artists, which generally allow him to have a rather close to a radio broadcast, unfortunately most of the time with a balance of instruments rather special.
- Video, where the type will return the camcorder into the concert venue (which is enough considering the size folk) to film the whole concert, with or without a tripod, trying to avoid detection by security of the artist or venue.
- Soundboard, where the type has a permission from the artist to record the concert via an output of the mixer, which generally allows recording of high quality and avoiding interference echoes of the public, but can sometimes lack warmth .
In short, this is a type known as a pirate coarsely, but from reading this blog you will see there is some shade, and the term is derogatory hacker vis-à-vis our passion.
